PRESSR: ADNOC Logistics & Services unveils the UAE's first autonomous vessel prototype to boost operational efficiency and support sustainability
- Thanks to its improved operational processes and self-operating design, the ship contributes to reducing carbon emissions by up to 30%.
- Two prototype ships are scheduled for delivery in the last quarter of 2026, in preparation for field trials and safety tests in UAE waters.
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates : ADNOC Logistics & Services PLC (referred to as “ADNOC Logistics & Services” or the “Company”), the world’s leading logistics and marine services provider for the energy sector, whose shares are traded on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange under the symbol ADNOCLS and ISIN number AEE01268A239, today unveiled the UAE’s first prototype of a landing craft designed for remote operation, as part of Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Week 2025.
The 60-meter vessel was designed in collaboration with SeaOwl, marking a significant milestone in maritime technology. Thanks to advanced artificial intelligence systems and satellite control technologies, the vessel can be remotely operated from ADNOC Logistics & Services' control center in the Mussafah Industrial Area of Abu Dhabi, contributing to enhanced safety, efficiency, and sustainability standards in maritime logistics.
On this occasion, Captain Abdulkarim Al Masabi, CEO of ADNOC Logistics and Services, said: “This achievement is tangible proof of ADNOC Logistics and Services’ leadership and its ongoing efforts to lay the foundations for the future of maritime logistics, and it represents a strategic step in the company’s digital transformation journey. By developing AI-powered remote ship control technology, we are enhancing safety standards, reducing emissions, and improving cost efficiency across our various maritime operations in line with the UAE and ADNOC’s goals to achieve climate neutrality.”
The ship's design eliminates the need for a crew, resulting in reduced weight, improved fuel efficiency, and the ability to operate around the clock. The AI-powered "Route Optimization System" is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 30% compared to conventional vessels.
Construction of the two prototype ships is planned to begin by the end of 2025, with delivery scheduled for the last quarter of 2026, followed by field trials and safety tests in UAE waters.
Xavier Jeanin, CEO of Sea All, said: “This collaboration with ADNOC Logistics & Services and the UAE’s maritime authorities sets a new global standard for autonomous vehicle operations, combining advanced remote control technologies and artificial intelligence to reshape the future of maritime logistics.”
