Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Arada recently opened the “Shajar” initiative, which is a huge nursery that includes more than 130,000 trees that are cared for before being planted in Arada communities, and provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about the various types of trees that these modern communities will embrace. Shajar represents one of the largest agricultural nurseries in the United Arab Emirates, extending over an area of more than 1.6 million square feet.
The “Shajar” initiative is an innovative educational destination, designed to care for trees and enhance environmental awareness among all family members. The site includes a visitors center that includes introductory tours with specialized guides, in addition to a luxurious café surrounded by dense surroundings of lush trees and green plants.
The enriching experience at “Shajar” begins at the visitor center, which provides everyone with an introductory overview of the benefits of trees, the dangers of desertification and deforestation, and other matters related to biodiversity, in addition to encouraging people to take the necessary measures to address the issue of climate change.
Visitors will also receive an introductory tour accompanied by specialized guides within Aljada Nursery, where they will learn about 50 types of trees that are grown in the Arada communities and the life stages of each tree. Each visitor will also be able to plant his own tree in the specialized agricultural workshop on site.
The “Shajar” nursery also includes a branch of the luxurious “The Hut” café, which is distinguished by its beautiful designs under a bright canopy of green trees. It will be open to its guests daily, starting at eight in the morning, to enjoy specialized coffee varieties in addition to a package of snacks and refreshing juices. This café is already widely popular among the residents of the Aljada community.
Commenting on this, Ahmed Al Khashibi, Group CEO of Arada, said: “Trees play a pivotal role in all Arada communities, in addition to their importance from aesthetic, health and environmental aspects in any modern society.” He added: “The Shajar initiative will allow us to spread awareness about the benefits of trees, in addition to highlighting the importance of effective and sustainable management of natural resources.”
Moreover, the three communities developed by Arada in Sharjah - including the Masar in the Land of Nature community, which includes more than 50,000 trees - in addition to the existing projects in Dubai, are distinguished by their large-scale green spaces. These vast areas are irrigated with recycled water through modern irrigation systems, which contribute to reducing the amount of water consumed and reducing losses.
Arada also previously announced its investment in the field of development and pioneering research through fruitful cooperation with the Hungarian company Biopulus, the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park, and Metito, in order to apply the technologies of the next generation of sustainable water treatment solutions in the Emirates through an experiment that is the first of its kind in the UAE. State level.
The Shajar initiative joins a growing group of various facilities and attractions provided by the Aljada community, which includes the large trampoline hall recently opened by the Bounce brand, Zad Restaurant Rukn, the grand children’s play and adventure area, the water play area, in addition to the Aljada skating field. The Wellfit Madar Club, Sharjah's largest and most modern fitness facility in the Aljada community, is expected to open within the next few weeks.
It is worth noting that Aljada extends over an area of more than 24 million square feet with more than 25,000 residential units, and is the largest mixed-use project in the history of Sharjah, as it is expected to change the urban landscape of the entire emirate upon its completion. The modern, integrated destination includes several major residential neighborhoods and a range of various commercial, hotel, entertainment, sports, educational and health facilities, in addition to a square for offices and companies.
