Exclusive - Bahraini government tells Reuters: Intercepting operation above residential area prevented Iranian drone attack and saved lives

DUBAI/WASHINGTON, March 21 (Reuters) - Bahrain's government told Reuters on Saturday that its Patriot air defense system was involved in intercepting an Iranian drone over a residential area in Bahrain on March 9, clarifying an incident that resulted in civilian casualties.
The government spokesperson explained that the interception prevented a drone attack and saved lives. The US military had previously announced that an Iranian drone targeted a residential area in Bahrain on March 9, injuring civilians.
