Riyadh - Mubasher: Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Saudi Arabia rose to SAR 897 billion by the end of 2023, compared to SAR 791 billion in 2022, up 13.4% or SAR 106 billion from the previous year, according to data from the General Authority for Statistics.

The balance of foreign direct investment has witnessed an increasing growth in the Kingdom over the past 20 years, from levels of 218 billion riyals in 2003 to reach 897 billion riyals at the end of 2023, with a compound growth rate of 7.3% during the period. In addition, the balance of foreign investment as a percentage of the gross domestic product reached about 22.5% in 2023.

The Kingdom ranked 16th among the G20 countries in terms of foreign direct investment balance in 2023, and achieved 4th place in terms of the growth rate of foreign direct investment balance at the G20 level.
