July 19 (Reuters Sports Service) - Al Ahly, Egypt's most decorated football club, announced on Sunday that it has extended the contract of its player Taher Mohamed Taher until 2029.

The club said via its Facebook account, "The contract of Taher Mohamed Taher, a player on the first football team, has been extended for two years, so that he can continue his journey with the team, after his current contract period became three seasons."

He added, "The contract extension came after a meeting between the player, football director Wael Gomaa, and Essam Serag El-Din, head of the contracts sector, where all the terms of the new contract were agreed upon and all administrative and financial procedures were completed."

The player, who is good at playing in more than one attacking position, expressed his happiness at extending his contract. The club’s official website quoted him as saying that he greatly appreciates Al-Ahly fans, to whom he owes a lot, stressing that he will do his best with his teammates to make the fans happy and achieve the championships and victories that befit the club.

Taher (29 years old) started his career in the youth sector of Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab Club, and had a short professional experience with the French club Le Havre in 2016, before returning to Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab, and then moving to Al-Ahly in the summer of 2020.

He also defended the colors of the Egyptian national team and the Olympic team.
