Riyadh - Mubasher: After more than two decades of service, the city of Riyadh is preparing to bid farewell to the Al-Mursalat Communications Complex, which was a prominent destination for technology enthusiasts and a major center for selling and maintaining mobile phones.
The concerned authorities announced to the complex that the removal work will begin early next year, as part of a development plan aimed at reusing the site to establish a modern project that includes a commercial and office complex.
Al Marsalat Complex is one of the commercial landmarks that has served the residents of Riyadh for more than 20 years, as it was a vital center that met the needs of citizens in the technology sector, leaving a great impact in the memory of many residents of the capital.
As the announcement of the removal circulated, many citizens expressed mixed feelings about the move; some pointed to nostalgia for the complex that witnessed the communications boom in the capital, while others understood the importance of urban development.
One of the visitors to the complex said: “This place was part of our daily life. We used to find everything we needed in terms of devices and technical solutions. Today, we bid it farewell with sadness.” Another commented: “Since my childhood, my father used to take me to this complex. We got used to it and never went anywhere else.”
With the departure of Al-Mursalat Communications Complex, Riyadh turns a page in its commercial history, opening the way for a new era of development and urban transformation, reflecting the capital’s ambitions for the future.
