PRESSR: Arabian Cement Company is the first cement producer in Africa and the Middle East to obtain International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs) certification.

Cairo: Arabian Cement Company (ACC) announced the registration of its solar power plant in Suez under the International Renewable Energy Certification (I-RECs) scheme, developed by I-TRACK . ACC thus becomes the first cement company in Africa and the Middle East to be certified under the I-RECs scheme, which strongly contributes to consolidating its position as a regional leader in adopting and implementing clean energy solutions in the industrial sector . Accordingly, the solar power plant at ACC’s Suez plant is the first industrial project of its kind of scale in Egypt to produce renewable energy certified by international I- RECs certifications.

Commenting on this achievement, Sergio Alcantarilla, CEO of Arabian Cement Company, said: “This achievement reflects our long-term vision to lead the cement sector, in Egypt and the entire region, in its transition to clean energy. The registration process was conducted in collaboration with Ecosolis Sustainable Development, the official registration partner for the I-REC system.
