China threatens to retaliate against US "discriminatory" visa regulations.
BEIJING, July 17 (Reuters) - China on Friday urged the United States to withdraw its new "discriminatory" visa regulations, and said it reserves the right to take countermeasures.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told a press conference that Beijing rejects the US decisions, which he described as serving no one's interests.
The United States moved on Thursday to impose restrictions on the duration of visas for foreign students, cultural exchange visitors and journalists, including reducing the duration of visas for Chinese journalists to 90 days.
