June 12 (Reuters) - Facebook's parent company, Meta Platforms, said on Friday that users were experiencing difficulties accessing the social media company's services.
Company spokesman Andy Stone said in a post on X, "We are aware that users are currently having difficulty accessing our services. We are working to resolve this issue."
DownDetector.com reported over 62,000 reports of problems with Facebook and over 8,000 reports of problems with Instagram as of 10:11 a.m. EST. The site tracks service outages by compiling status reports from multiple sources.
Because the figures on the Down Detector website are based on reports submitted by users, the actual number of affected users may vary.
Meta has not yet responded to Reuters' request for comment on the cause of the outage.
