Petrojet returns to the Egyptian Premier League after a 16-year absence

- Petrojet returned to the Egyptian Premier League after a long absence of 16 years after securing promotion from the second division on Thursday.

Petrojet Assiut bid farewell to the top league in the 2009-2010 season, before today succeeding in securing its return after a 1-1 draw away from home with Mansoura, raising its tally to 57 points and guaranteeing second place behind Al Qanah, which secured the top spot and qualification several weeks ago.

Petrojet Assiut has participated in the Premier League three times before, and its first participation was in the 2006-2007 season, but it returned to the second division at the end of the season.

He returned to the Premier League again in the 2008-2009 season before being relegated in the 2009-2010 season, which was his last season in the top flight before his return today.

One more spot remains to complete the three qualifying teams, with the competition being between Abu Qir Fertilizers (55 points) and Lavina (53 points).

The final round is expected to determine the identity of the third team to qualify for the Premier League.
