- U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bisent arrived in South Korea on Wednesday for trade talks with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng ahead of a summit later this week in Beijing between the leaders of the world's two largest economies.

The talks are likely to cover a range of issues ahead of the planned meeting on Thursday and Friday between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

Bisent made no statement to reporters upon his arrival at Incheon Airport.

News 1 reported on Tuesday, citing an official at Incheon Airport, that the discussions are scheduled to take place in a reception room at the airport.

US officials said the United States and China are expected to agree at the Beijing summit on mechanisms to facilitate mutual trade and investment, and that China will announce purchases that include Boeing aircraft and US agricultural and energy products.

Beijing is seeking to have the United States ease restrictions on exports of advanced semiconductors and has raised concerns about a bill that aims to block critical chip-making equipment from entering China.
