Thailand confirms 3 killed in attack on ship in Strait of Hormuz
BANGKOK, April 8 (Reuters) - Three crew members of a Thai-flagged vessel attacked in the Strait of Hormuz last month have died, Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow told a news conference on Wednesday.
Thailand reported that the Omani navy rescued 20 crew members after the attack, which caused an explosion at the stern of the ship and a fire in the engine room.
Sihasak said he would travel to Oman in mid-April to seek help in coordinating with Iran to ensure the safe passage of nine Thai ships still stuck in the Strait of Hormuz.
A Thai oil tanker safely crossed the waterway late last month and was not asked to pay any money for passing through the strait, which Iran closed in the wake of the US-Israeli war against it.
