Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) and the Securities Clearing Center Company (Muqassa) launch structural improvements to develop the financial derivatives market.
Saudi Arabia’s Tadawul and the Securities Clearing Center Company (Muqassa) have launched a package of structural improvements in the Saudi derivatives market, as part of the next phase of developing and revitalizing market mechanisms to serve investors’ aspirations.
These enhancements target the MT30 index futures and single-stock futures contracts, aiming to boost liquidity levels and improve market efficiency, thereby expanding the participation of both institutional and individual traders.
The enhancements, which took effect on August 19, 2026, included a restructuring of the market-making framework, a reduction in trading, clearing, and regulatory fees, and a full waiver of futures trading fees and final settlement fees for one year. The clearing company also implemented additional waivers covering fees associated with segregated accounts for collateral, assignment, and receipt services. The amendments included improvements to the specifications for single-equity futures contracts, updates to the pricing mechanism, and enhancements to margin mechanisms to ensure efficient capital utilization. A margin calculator is also available on the clearing company's website to enable members to understand and calculate margin requirements for all listed derivative products.
As part of this phase, Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) entered into agreements with Al Ahli Capital on behalf of several derivatives market makers to support liquidity provision in futures contracts. Participating entities include Corvus, Binevenagh, BLS Futures Ltd, Eighteen Eight Solutions, and MET Traders. Market-making activities commenced in August 2026 to support the initial phase of market liquidity provision.
These improvements to the trading and clearing infrastructure contribute to establishing a more robust regulatory framework for derivatives trading and support the development of the Saudi financial market in line with international standards and the objectives of Vision 2030.
