WASHINGTON, May 7 (Reuters) - The U.S. administration has begun inviting the chief executives of Nvidia, Apple, Exxon Mobil, Boeing and other major companies to accompany President Donald Trump on his trip to China next week, the Semaphore news website reported on Thursday.
The report stated that executives from Qualcomm, Blackstone, Citigroup and Visa were also on the list of invitees.
An informed source confirmed that Jane Fraser, CEO of Citigroup, received an invitation. Qualcomm confirmed receiving the invitation but declined to comment further.
Reuters was unable to confirm the full list of companies invited.
The White House, Visa, Nvidia, Apple and Citigroup have not yet responded to requests for comment, while Blackstone and Boeing declined to comment.
This report comes amid growing expectations about potential deals during Trump's visit to Beijing next week to meet his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg told Reuters in April that the company was counting on the Trump administration to help secure a long-awaited large order from China.
