Texas governor bans employees from using Shein and Alibaba products
WASHINGTON, Jan 27 (Reuters) - Texas Governor James Mattis said in a statement on Monday that the state will ban its employees from using products from Shein, Alibaba and TP-Link, citing the need to protect the "privacy of Texans" from the Chinese government.
A statement issued by Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the list also includes the e-commerce platform Timo and the battery company Cattell.
Abbott's ban prohibits employees from using those companies' "hardware, artificial intelligence, and software" on state-owned devices and networks.
The ban imposed by Abbott also includes Chinese drone manufacturer Autel and products from Chinese artificial intelligence company iFlyTek.
The United States and China reached a breakthrough in October in a long-running trade and technology war.
