Facts - US Open 2025: Dates, Schedule, Rankings, and How to Watch

- The U.S. Open is a hard-court tournament organized by the United States Tennis Association. It was first held in 1881 and was originally known as the U.S. National Championships.

Here's everything you need to know about the last four Grand Slams of the year:

When will the US Open be held?

* The 145th US Open will be held from August 24 to September 7.

Where is the tournament held?

* The US Open is held in Flushing Meadows, New York.

* The three main courts at the US Open are Arthur Ashe, Louis Armstrong, and the Grand Stand.

* Arthur Ashe Stadium (capacity 23,771) is named after the only Black player to win singles titles at Wimbledon, the US Open, and the Australian Open. He was also a prominent human rights activist.

* Louis Armstrong Stadium (capacity 14,053) is named after the famous jazz musician Armstrong, who lived a few blocks from the venue until his death in 1971. It opened during the 2018 edition, replacing the 1978 stadium of the same name and has a retractable roof like the main stadium.

* The Grandstand (capacity 8,125) first opened on August 29, 2016, the opening day of the US Open that year.

Who participates in the US Open?

* The top seeds automatically enter the main draw with the 32 seeds announced before the draw to ensure they do not meet in the early rounds.

The tournament ranking is based on the world ranking, which is determined based on the points players accumulate in professional tournaments.

*Italian Jannik Sinner, who has won four Grand Slam titles, most recently at Wimbledon in July, is the world's top-ranked men's tennis player and is bidding to win back-to-back US Open titles.

* Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, winner of three Grand Slam titles, is the world's number one tennis player and the defending champion.

* Serbian Novak Djokovic will continue his quest to extend his record-extending Grand Slam title with a 25th men's singles title, while world number two and 2022 champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain will seek his sixth Grand Slam title.

* The organizers also distribute wildcards to local hopefuls and prominent players who have slipped in the rankings.

* This year, a new mixed doubles format will feature several top singles players, with the event taking place over two days in the week leading up to the main event. Among the players who have formed a mixed doubles pairing are former singles champions Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu.
