NEW YORK, May 27 (Reuters) - A surge in healthcare and consumer staples stocks helped the Dow Jones Industrial Average close at a record high on Wednesday, while the Standard & Poor's 500 and Nasdaq indexes were little changed, as investors held back somewhat after the AI-led rally in the market and awaited cautiously on Middle East peace talks.
Preliminary data indicated that the Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 1.81 points, or 0.02 percent, to 7520.93 points, the Nasdaq Composite index increased 18.55 points, or 0.08 percent, to 26676.60 points, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 189.08 points, or 0.37 percent, to 50650.76 points.
