Rubio: America wants positive relations with China, but not at the expense of its allies.
MANILA, July 23 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Thursday that the United States wants positive relations with China, but that will not be at the expense of its allies.
"We have a role and we cannot abandon our allies. We have made that absolutely clear," he told reporters in Manila. "Our relationship with China must be good."
He added, "We must maintain relations with China, and strive to make them as positive as possible."
