Rubio at the ASEAN summit: America is open to dialogue on the Middle East conflict and ready to negotiate and resolve differences.
MANILA, July 22 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday that the United States is open to dialogue on the Middle East conflict and ready to negotiate and resolve differences with Iran, but that Tehran is not serious about negotiations.
Rubio added, during a meeting with his counterparts from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Manila, "If they are serious, we are serious. If they are not, we will take the necessary measures to protect our interests, and the interests of our allies as well."
ASEAN foreign ministers expressed their deep concern over the renewed fighting in the Middle East.
