Zawya - Press Releases: Akwa wins the King Khalid Award for Excellence in Community Performance
The King Khalid Award is a high national standard for measuring the impact of excellence in community performance and institutional sustainability.
ACWA Leadership: The award represents external recognition of a sustainable path based on integration and responsibility.
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – ACWA Power, the world’s largest privately owned desalination company, a leader in energy transformation, and a pioneer in green hydrogen, celebrated winning the highest rating in the social criterion of the King Khalid Award, one of the most prestigious awards in Saudi Arabia and the region, which evaluates the performance of entities according to key criteria including social, environmental, and governance standards.
The award was presented during a ceremony held at the King Khalid Foundation headquarters in Riyadh, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Trustees. Mr. Raad Al-Saadi, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, accepted the award on behalf of the company, in the presence of several of the company's executive leaders.
For her part, Dr. Rasha Al-Rawaf, Chief Corporate and Sustainability Officer at Aqua, said, “Winning the King Khalid Award is a strong affirmation of our belief that business growth and social responsibility are mutually reinforcing. This timing is particularly significant as this recognition coincides with the launch of our new corporate identity, which places people at the center of everything we do. The award also demonstrates that sustainability is not a secondary initiative within our operations, but rather is deeply rooted in how we work, how we invest, and how we measure success.”
This recognition came after a rigorous evaluation process that lasted several months, during which the company underwent a comprehensive audit based on submitted data and sustainability reports from the previous year. In this context, ACWA received special recognition for its excellence in social impact, achieving the highest social rating among private sector companies, clearly affirming its deep commitment to people and society.
