Etihad Credit Insurance, the Federal Export Credit Company of the United Arab Emirates, participated in the “Made in the UAE 2026” event, which was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), with the participation of a select group of international manufacturers, investors and industry leaders.

This participation comes as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting the national industrial system and enhancing the competitiveness of non-oil exports, and exploring promising opportunities in the region, by empowering local manufacturers and expanding their access to global markets, in line with the UAE’s directions towards achieving sustainable economic diversification .

During the event, Haitham Al-Khazaaleh, Director of Underwriting and Reinsurance at Etihad Credit Insurance, moderated a dialogue session entitled “Empowering Small and Medium Industrial Enterprises – Finance, Growth and Community Impact”, with the participation of a select group of stakeholders from various financial and industrial sectors, with the aim of exploring new opportunities and accelerating the UAE’s journey towards sustainable economic diversification.

The discussions emphasized the pivotal role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as a cornerstone of the UAE's industrial economy and explored a range of practical solutions to provide the necessary liquidity and enable long-term growth. Key recommendations included expanding guarantee programs, business incubators and accelerators, and integrated financing mechanisms; incorporating corporate social responsibility (CSR) frameworks and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards into SME financing models; utilizing SMEs in national initiatives such as local sourcing and humanitarian supply chains; and enhancing access to retail and procurement platforms through impact-driven positioning.

Al-Khaza’leh explained that bringing together the various stakeholders from the financial and industrial systems is a fundamental pillar for unifying visions and developing practical and implementable solutions, which contributes to stimulating the growth of small and medium enterprises.

He added : “At Etihad Credit Insurance, we are committed to facilitating access to finance and supporting these companies to expand sustainably and achieve a wider economic and social impact by simplifying procedures, raising awareness about available financing tools, and consolidating frameworks for cooperation between the public and private sectors. We work to support the expansion of these companies and enable them to enter new markets, which contributes to enhancing the resilience of the national economy and diversifying its sources, through expanding the use of risk-sharing and credit protection mechanisms.”

The company played a pivotal role in guiding dialogue between government entities and the private sector, acting as a catalyst to enhance integration among various stakeholders. This involved focusing on developing practical solutions to bridge financing gaps, support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and achieve long-term sustainable value. Discussions also emphasized the importance of expanding access to credit guarantees, strengthening risk-sharing mechanisms, and developing targeted financing programs that empower these companies and enhance their capacity for expansion and sustainability .

Etihad Credit Insurance, through its participation in this event, reaffirmed its pivotal role in empowering SMEs to integrate into local and global supply chains, expand into export markets, and manage risks with confidence.
