Zawya - Press Releases: Etihad Airways enters codeshare agreement with Uzbekistan Airways
The launch of the codeshare agreement coincides with Etihad Airways commencing its new daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Tashkent on August 9, 2026.
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Etihad Airways and Uzbekistan Airways have signed a codeshare agreement that allows Etihad guests from around the world access to Central Asia, and connects Uzbekistan Airways guests to Etihad's daily flights to Abu Dhabi.
The agreement will take effect on May 15, 2026, with the first codeshare flights available for travel from August 9, 2026.
Under this partnership, Etihad Airways guests can book a single ticket on Uzbekistan Airways flights from Tashkent to eight destinations in Uzbekistan: Samarkand, Urgench, Nukus, Termez, Fergana, Namangan, Andijan, and Bukhara, as well as numerous international destinations on the Uzbekistan Airways network. Uzbekistan Airways guests can also now easily reach Abu Dhabi via Tashkent on Etihad Airways’ new daily service, which begins this summer.
Etihad Airways and Uzbekistan Airways are working to develop a frequent flyer program partnership between the "Etihad Guest" and "Uzbekistan Air Plus" programs, with the aim of expanding reward options for members of both programs.
Uzbekistan is one of the fastest-growing inbound tourism markets in Central Asia, with the Silk Road heritage of Samarkand and Bukhara, the historic Khiva fortress, and the vast landscapes of Karakalpakstan attracting travelers. This agreement allows Etihad Airways guests to access all these tourist destinations with a single flight.
Tashkent is the largest city in Central Asia and is experiencing rapid growth in economic and cultural relations. This new partnership will make it easier for Etihad Airways guests to access Uzbekistan, while giving Uzbekistan Airways passengers wider access to international markets via Abu Dhabi.
On this occasion, Eric Dee, Chief Commercial Officer, Revenue and Trade Officer at Etihad Airways, said: “Uzbekistan is one of the most promising markets in our network right now, and this agreement offers our guests what they have been asking for: easy access to eight Uzbek cities with a single ticket, with direct flights to our hub in Abu Dhabi. We have found in Uzbekistan Airways a strong partner, an airline that is expanding its fleet and range of services, and we look forward to strengthening this relationship in the future.”
For his part, Shukhrat Yadjarov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airways Trade and Tourism Joint Stock Company, commented, "The cooperation with Etihad Airways represents another strategic milestone in the ongoing expansion of Uzbekistan Airways' international network. Through this codeshare agreement, passengers of the national carrier will be able to access a new destination within our network, namely Abu Dhabi. This new service will complement our existing daily flights between Tashkent and Dubai, further strengthening air connectivity between Uzbekistan and the UAE."
He continued: “This partnership combines the commitment of two leading airlines to the highest standards of safety, service excellence, operational reliability, and genuine hospitality. We are confident that this agreement will form a strong air bridge between our two countries and will contribute significantly to the development of tourism, cultural exchange, and trade relations.”
With the addition of Uzbekistan Airways, Etihad Airways’ partner network now includes 46 codeshare airlines and more than 130 connecting airlines, the largest among non-alliance airlines, giving travelers access to more than 350 destinations worldwide with single or bundled tickets.
