The agreement was signed by Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Afaleq, Head of Corporate Communications at Almarai Company, and Mr. Muayyad Al-Hadban, CEO of the Health Endowments Association, at the association's headquarters in Dammam. The support will be directed towards the most vulnerable and low-income patients, enabling them to undergo the necessary surgeries to regain their sight and improve their daily lives. The "Beautiful Eyes" initiative embodies Almarai's commitment to making a positive social impact and supporting healthcare initiatives in the community .
Cataract surgery is one of the most common eye surgeries in the Kingdom. The disease arises from various causes, most notably aging, diabetes, and high blood pressure, which can lead to a loss of elasticity in the eye's lens, causing it to thicken and become less transparent. This condition can result in partial or complete vision loss, significantly impacting the quality of life of those affected. Surgical intervention is the only available treatment for these cases. The success rate of cataract surgery is high, exceeding 95 %.
