Zawya - Press Releases: Telecom Egypt (WE) and Huawei sign an agreement to launch the commercial FTTR service for the first time in Egypt.

Cairo, Egypt: Telecom Egypt ( WE ), in cooperation with Huawei, announced the launch of its Fiber -to-the-Room service, a move that represents a qualitative leap that guarantees customers a high-speed internet connection experience and enhances wireless network coverage in every floor and room of the house.

Huawei’s FTTR technology represents a new generation of indoor fiber optic network solutions, specifically designed to address internet coverage challenges such as weak signal, uncovered areas, and inconsistent or slow speeds due to the density of connected devices in large, multi-room homes. This technology is designed to meet the demands and needs of customers. Furthermore, fiber-to-the-room (FTTR) is an ideal solution for smart homes, gamers, and other technology-dependent users who require high-speed internet connectivity with minimal latency for optimal performance .

The technology provides a future-proof infrastructure capable of meeting the requirements of the next generation of entertainment and work, in light of the rapid development of reliance on digital services and smart home applications. It fully supports fast cloud video games, remote work and learning, and streaming ultra-high-definition visual content with clarity up to 4K and 8K . The service is characterized by its high ability to accommodate a large number of connected devices at the same time without any decline in the levels of reliability and operational performance efficiency of the network .

To ensure customer comfort, the new solutions include a quick and simplified installation mechanism that allows the service to be taken advantage of in record time and with minimal impact on the details of the home, thanks to smart management technology and advanced optical cables, where optical fibers are extended through existing home paths or using innovative transparent cables, specially designed to fully integrate with different decorations and maintain the elegant aesthetic appearance of the home without any distortion of the overall appearance.

Professor Mohamed El-Touny, Executive Vice President of Consumer Business at Telecom Egypt, said: “The launch of the FTTR service today is a milestone in our journey towards leading the future of digital services in Egypt, and confirms our continued commitment to providing innovative solutions that exceed our customers’ expectations. We are not only providing higher internet speeds, but we are also building a smart and integrated infrastructure inside homes to enable our community to make the most of the latest global technologies.”

He added: This launch comes as an extension of our strategic partnership with Huawei, which enables us to accelerate the introduction of the latest technologies to the Egyptian market in a way that directly improves the customer experience, whether for individuals or the business sector, through a more efficient and stable infrastructure capable of keeping pace with the increasing demand for digital services.”

Louis Liu, Vice President of Huawei Carrier Business Group for Telecommunications Network Solutions in Egypt, said: “Our partnership with Telecom Egypt in launching the FTTR service represents a strategic step that reflects our shared commitment to accelerating the pace of digital transformation in Egypt in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030, and raising the standards of telecommunications infrastructure to global levels.”

He added: “Since we began our journey in Egypt more than a quarter of a century ago, Huawei has been committed to its global vision of building a fully connected and intelligent world. The importance of this technology is not limited to improving the home connectivity experience, but extends to forming the basis for advanced connectivity solutions that support homes and small and medium-sized business environments, by providing super speeds, higher stability, and a more efficient and reliable user experience, capable of keeping pace with future requirements and supporting the growth of the digital economy in Egypt.”

To make it easier for customers wishing to subscribe, Telecom Egypt (WE) announced the commercial launch of the FTTR service, with continuous technical support available 24/7, in addition to professional installation services provided by a specialized team of trained technicians, ensuring a smooth and integrated customer experience from service activation to full operation.
