Zawya - Press Releases: Spire International and Yellow Door Energy inaugurate a rooftop solar power plant in Dubai Industrial City

Dubai, UAE: Spire International, one of the largest distributors and exporters of fast-moving consumer goods to 45 global markets and an affiliate of the Lals Group, has officially launched a solar power plant under a solar power plant lease agreement with Yellow Door Energy , the leading sustainable energy partner for the corporate sector in the Middle East and South Africa region .

A 480 kWp rooftop solar power plant is now fully operational at Spire International’s warehousing and logistics facility in Dubai Industrial City, and is expected to generate 806,000 kWh of clean electricity in its first year. The project comprises 820 solar panels supported by DC-DC boosters to enhance system integrity and maximize clean energy production efficiency. The project is also expected to reduce carbon emissions by 326,000 kg annually, directly supporting the Lals Group’s sustainability goals and aligning with the UAE’s strategic initiative to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

The inauguration ceremony was held at Spire International’s storage and logistics facility, and was attended by high-level representatives from Dubai Industrial City, Spire International, Lals Group, Yellow Door Energy , and Pure Energy, the contractor responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction work on the project.

Harish Bhujwani, President of FMCG at LG Consumer Goods Group and Spire International, stated: “Sustainability remains a cornerstone of our long-term growth strategy, and this solar energy initiative marks a significant milestone. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Yellow Door Energy for their collaboration in seizing this opportunity and for their role in bringing together the right stakeholders, enabling us to translate our sustainability ambitions into tangible action.”

We also extend our thanks and gratitude to Dubai Industrial City for its continued support and commitment to driving the transition towards the use of renewable energy sources in the industrial sector.

Through this collaboration, Spire International is taking another important step towards reducing its environmental footprint, improving energy efficiency, and contributing to building a more sustainable tomorrow.”

Jeremy Crane, CEO of Yellow Door Energy Group , commented: “We are proud to launch this solar power plant in partnership with Spire International in Dubai Industrial City. This project demonstrates how companies can reduce their emissions and energy costs by adopting solar power plant leasing solutions, while simultaneously enhancing their operational flexibility. Despite the complex regional operating environment, our teams and partners prioritized safety throughout the construction and commissioning phases of the solar power plant. As a UAE-based company, we are honored to announce today that our solar projects have generated over 1.1 terawatt-hours of clean energy across seven countries, helping companies reduce emissions and lower energy costs. We hope this achievement will inspire more companies to adopt clean energy solutions and contribute to building a more resilient and sustainable future.”

Yellow Door Energy , as the developer of the solar power project, is responsible for financing, designing, constructing, commissioning, operating, and maintaining the solar power plant throughout the lease term. The solar power plant leasing model allows companies to reduce their energy costs without any initial capital investment or operational risk, while maintaining their focus on core operations and benefiting from the advantages of clean energy.
