Zawya - Press Releases: CNTXT AI unveils “Munsit Edge” platform

  • An innovative technology that achieves instant transcription of Arabic speech with a response time of 150 milliseconds on smartphones, while ensuring that all audio data remains within the device, thus promoting the highest standards of privacy and data sovereignty throughout the Arab world.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: CNTXT AI today announced the official launch of Munsit Edge, one of the first Arabic speech-to-text ( Speech-to-Text ) solutions that operates entirely on the local device ( On-Device ), without the need for any cloud computing connection.

The “Munsit Edge” platform is based on the same core model as Munsit , a pioneer in Arabic automatic speech recognition ( ASR ) technology, which has set a new global standard for transcription accuracy across major Arabic dialects. This innovation enables real-time transcription of Arabic speech on everyday consumer devices, with efficiency comparable to systems that until recently required complex server and data center infrastructure.

For the first time, an advanced model for converting Arabic speech to text works entirely on the site where the conversation itself is taking place: on a phone in Riyadh, inside a car in Cairo, in a smart home in Dubai, or in a call center in Manama, without any audio data leaving the user's device.

Mohammed Abu Sheikh, CEO of CNTXT AI, said: “Until today, the Arab world has lacked Arabic speech recognition technology that actually works on the devices people use every day. With the platform, we proved that it is possible to develop an Arabic-origin model that outperforms generic systems in accuracy. Today, with the Edge platform, we are bringing this achievement from remote data centers to the devices themselves. Your calls, your cars, and your homes can now understand Arabic instantly, without sending a single second of voice data to any external cloud provider.”

First achievement of its kind in the field of automatic speech recognition in Arabic

Until recently, all Arabic speech-to-text conversion systems relied on cloud processing, where voice data was sent to remote servers for processing using graphics processing units ( GPUs ) before the results were returned to the user. This model resulted in time delays, privacy concerns, and recurring operational costs with each use.

The unique linguistic nature of the Arabic language, with its wide variety of dialects, frequent instances of mixing Arabic and English, and the complexities of real-world sound environments, also posed a significant technical challenge to running these systems locally on devices.

“Edge Platform” comes to address these challenges through an advanced Arabic model that has been extensively trained, along with precise operational improvements that enable it to work with high efficiency on iPhone , Android , MacBook , Windows and Linux devices, as well as smart car and home systems and Internet of Things devices.

Key performance indicators:

• The Word Error Rate ( WER ) is approximately 24% across Gulf, Egyptian, Levantine and Modern Standard Arabic dialects, in addition to cases of mixing Arabic and English.

• Response time of approximately 150 milliseconds for instant streaming on standard iPhone -class devices.

• Maintaining the same level of accuracy whether operating via the cloud, within the enterprise infrastructure, or directly on the device, without any compromise in performance quality.

• No internet connection is required, as all copying operations are performed locally within the device.

Importance of local data processing

Abu Al-Sheikh added: “Data sovereignty is not limited to where it is stored, but extends to where it is processed as well. For banks that deal with customer voice data, or government agencies that manage citizen service lines, the most important thing is that the Arabic language is processed within their own infrastructure. The Edge platform makes this possible on phones, computers and peripherals across the region.”

The Edge platform was specifically designed to meet the needs of sectors requiring the highest levels of privacy and digital sovereignty, including:

• Call centers, telecommunications companies, and Interactive Voice Response ( IVR ) systems, with real-time transcription of calls in Arabic without server costs calculated per minute, and within the operator's own infrastructure.

• Banks and financial technology companies, with voice transcription capabilities that meet the most stringent data residency and regulatory compliance requirements.

• Government agencies and the public sector, through voice services directed to citizens within a sovereign and secure infrastructure.

• Car systems and integrated devices, with Arabic voice interfaces that work efficiently without the need for a cellular connection.

• Smart homes and consumer devices, with Arabic voice control capabilities that operate without a cloud subscription and are completely offline.

Availability and integration mechanisms

The Edge platform is available starting today via three main integration paths:

• Software Development Kits ( SDKs ) for iOS , Android , macOS , Windows and Linux systems.

On-premise containers for deployment within private clouds and enterprise data centers.

• Customized versions for embedded devices and the Internet of Things for the automotive, smart home, and industrial application sectors.

The “Mansat” platform also remains available via a secure cloud application programming interface ( API ), a web platform, and smartphone applications, enabling organizations to combine cloud operation and local processing according to their needs related to performance, compliance, and privacy requirements.
