Zawya - Press Releases: HUMAIN partners with NVIDIA to launch self-driving taxi platform in the Middle East
This collaboration reinforces the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to develop a world-class smart infrastructure and consolidate the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for AI-based innovation .
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - As part of NVIDIA’s recently announced global expansion of its DRIVE Hyperion platform for self-driving taxis, HUMAIN , a Public Investment Fund subsidiary specializing in providing integrated AI solutions, will lead efforts to bring the platform to Middle Eastern markets .
This expansion is part of a global network bringing together leading automotive manufacturers, autonomous vehicle manufacturing and software partners, and ride-sharing service providers to accelerate the development and deployment of Level 4 autonomous taxi fleets in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. In this context, HUMAIN will leverage its integrated AI and mobility ecosystem, in collaboration with the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion platform, to support the development and deployment of advanced autonomous mobility solutions in Saudi Arabia and the wider region .
This collaboration is based on large-scale strategic investments in AI infrastructure. HUMAIN plans to establish AI factories with a capacity of up to 500 megawatts, along with deploying hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GPUs over the next five years. The first phase of the project has already begun, which includes the operation of an NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell supercomputer equipped with 18,000 GPUs and InfiniBand networks. This establishes a sovereign computing architecture capable of supporting the training, simulation, and large-scale fleet readiness testing of autonomous vehicles .
Commenting on this collaboration, Tariq Amin, CEO of HUMAIN, said : “ Autonomous mobility will become one of the most important applications of artificial intelligence during the next decade. Through our collaboration with NVIDIA , we are working to provide the advanced infrastructure, technical capabilities, and operational scale necessary to develop Level 4 automation-ready transportation solutions in the Kingdom. This collaboration embodies our strategic vision to build AI-based infrastructure platforms that seamlessly connect the digital and physical worlds on a large scale .”
NVIDIA is the only company offering a Level 4 autonomous driving-ready platform that enables the global automotive industry to develop and expand fleets of taxis and autonomous vehicles. The NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion platform is based on the integrated NVIDIA DriveOS™ safety ecosystem, which combines high-performance in-vehicle computing capabilities via NVIDIA DRIVE AGX™ and the NVIDIA Halos™ OS , the core software for the Halos system, which is compliant with safety standards, along with a suite of multimedia sensors and NVIDIA DRIVE™ AV software specifically designed to support high-level automated and autonomous driving capabilities .
In this context, Jensen Huang , founder and CEO of NVIDIA , said: “The autonomous mobility sector is currently at a pivotal turning point as it enters industrial expansion, with vehicles evolving into intelligent, mobile robots capable of interacting with their surroundings. Therefore, autonomous taxi fleets will require advanced AI infrastructure capable of perceiving, reasoning, and operating safely in real-world environments.” He added: “The NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion™ platform provides automakers, autonomous driving technology developers, and mobility providers worldwide with a unified, Level 4 automation-ready foundation that integrates computing, sensors, and safety software within a global ecosystem, accelerating the transition of autonomous taxi services from limited trials to widespread everyday transportation solutions .”
As NVIDIA continues to strengthen its collaboration with leading car manufacturers and mobility technology and solution providers in the Middle East and around the world, HUMAIN’s participation represents a qualitative step that supports the Kingdom’s ambitions to establish itself as a leading global hub for developing AI-powered transportation infrastructure.
