Zawya - Press Releases: Flyadeal to be the most punctual low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa in 2025

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Flyadeal, the fastest growing low-cost carrier in Saudi Arabia, has achieved an unprecedented milestone by recording 12 consecutive months of on-time operational commitment, thus topping the 2025 On-Time Performance (OTP ) indicators among low-cost carriers in the Middle East and North Africa region.

According to full-year data from Cirium , a leading independent global aviation analytics company, flyadeal achieved an average on-time performance of 86.54 % and 89.79 % for on-time departures. The airline also achieved a near 100 % flight completion rate ( 99.84 %), reflecting a significant decrease in the number of canceled flights.

These results are based on data from 69,971 scheduled flights operated by flyadeal between January and December 2025. The on-time performance index measures the extent to which flights adhere to their departure and arrival times within a 15- minute margin of the approved schedule.

During 2025 , Flyadeal achieved an additional record-breaking accomplishment, as it was ranked in June as the most punctual airline in the world, whether in the budget or full-service airline category, during one of the busiest operating months, coinciding with the peak season for transporting pilgrims to the Kingdom.

Stephen Greenway, CEO of flyadeal, said: “This achievement is clear evidence of the level of consistency and operational efficiency that flyadeal has achieved month after month throughout 2025 , in accordance with the highest approved standards. As the company continues to expand its fleet, launch new destinations, and manage the complex operational processes associated with the Hajj and Umrah seasons, we have maintained our full focus on strict adherence to schedules.

We are proud to operate an efficient, safe, and reliable flight schedule, a result of the continuous efforts of our team.

Flyadeal operates around the clock across all departments of the company. This success is also due to our integrated network of partners, foremost among them our airport partners, who are a pivotal element in ensuring the seamless and sustainable operation of our services under all circumstances.

Greenway also praised the "remarkable" performance of sister airline "Saudi", which ranked second globally in on-time performance within the full-service airline category, according to Cirium's ranking, for the second year in a row.

He also praised King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh after it was ranked second globally in the large airports category according to Cirium’s classification, an achievement that is of particular importance given that Flyadeal relies mainly on the airport to operate most of its flights to and from various destinations in the Kingdom.

For his part, Captain Abdulaziz Bahri, Chief Operating Officer of flyadeal, said: “No factor affects the travel experience as much as punctuality, and from this standpoint, flyadeal places punctuality at the heart of its operational priorities, ensuring a reliable and integrated travel experience that enables our guests to reach their destinations safely and on time.”

With the recent opening of our new and expanded operations center at our headquarters in Jeddah, along with our ongoing investments in technology and human resources, flyadeal is better prepared to support growth plans, enhance planning and management capabilities, monitor operational processes around the clock, and deal efficiently with any potential disruptions, which will positively impact on on-time performance levels.”

With up to 250 scheduled flights per day, and having surpassed the 10 million passenger mark for the first time in a single calendar year, flyadeal has cemented its position as the fastest growing airline in the Middle East region.

In this context, Iyad Jamal Al-Lail, Director of Ground Operations at Flynas, said: "Operating an airline requires a high level of coordination and teamwork, and the men and women in the ground operations teams, across more than 30 airports within the network, deserve recognition."

Flyadeal, both domestic and international, is being recognized for its continuous efforts and strong commitment to ensuring smooth operations and minimizing delays.

From check-in and customer service staff to departure gate teams and baggage handlers, everyone plays a key role within an integrated operational system that reflects the spirit of teamwork and the integration of efforts.

Flyadeal currently operates a fleet of 44 aircraft from its operational bases in Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and Madinah, serving more than 30 seasonal and permanent destinations in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and South Asia.

Approximately 60 % of Flyadeal’s narrow-body fleet, consisting of Airbus A320 aircraft, is based at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, while 11 aircraft are based at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, five aircraft at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, and two aircraft at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah.

About Flyadeal

On September 23 , 2017 , Saudi National Day, flyadeal commenced operations with its historic inaugural flight from Jeddah to Riyadh. A pioneering and innovative company, flyadeal was the first regional low-cost carrier to launch exclusively through digital distribution channels. Established as the sister airline of Saudia, the national carrier – both being wholly owned by Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia Group) – flyadeal caters to price-conscious and tech-savvy customers in a market where 80 % of the Saudi population is under 40 and owns at least two mobile phones.

Flyadeal aims to stimulate the travel, tourism, and trade sectors through its affordable daily fares, offering value for money and catering to the needs of leisure, religious, family, and business travelers. Simplicity is the hallmark of the Economy Class cabins on Flyadeal's narrow-body aircraft fleet. As the Kingdom undergoes a radical transformation through its Vision 2030 economic diversification journey, the aviation and tourism sectors are among the many designated to foster dynamic growth. Flyadeal is one of the newest and fastest-growing low-cost carriers in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, consistently delivering on-time service that exceeds the global industry average.

Flyadeal operates a small fleet of narrow-body Airbus A320 aircraft from its bases in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam to destinations across Saudi Arabia, leaving a growing international footprint in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. Flyadeal has carried over 40 million passengers since its inception. In May 2024 , Flyadeal placed its largest-ever order for 51 aircraft – 12 A320neos and 39 larger A321neos – with deliveries commencing in 2027. Additionally, Flyadeal will operate long-haul scheduled services starting in 2027 , with the phased introduction of ten ( 10 ) wide-body Airbus A330neo aircraft ordered by the Saudi Arabian Airlines Group in April 2025 .

Therefore, by 2030 , flyadeal plans to operate hundreds of routes, more than double its fleet size, and more than triple its network, reaching over 100 aircraft and destinations respectively. This ambitious expansion strategy positions flyadeal as a rapidly growing airline and one of the most desirable companies to work for in the country.
