Zawya - Press Releases: Flyadeal expands its Madinah base with the launch of three new domestic destinations
Madinah, Saudi Arabia - Flyadeal, the fastest growing low-cost carrier in Saudi Arabia, has announced the expansion of its operations from its recently launched base in Madinah, with the launch of three new domestic destinations starting from March 1, 2026 .
This expansion includes the launch of scheduled flights to Jazan, located on the Red Sea coast in the southwest of the Kingdom, and Al-Qassim, known for its date production in the center of the Kingdom, in addition to Arar, the capital of the Northern Borders region, known for its agricultural center, which raises the number of destinations served by flyadeal with direct flights from Madinah to 10 domestic and international destinations.
Flyadeal currently operates domestic flights to Abha, Al-Hofuf, Dammam, Riyadh and Tabuk, in addition to direct international flights to Cairo and Istanbul, departing from Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina.
Stephen Greenway, CEO of flyadeal, said: “Two months ago, flyadeal revealed that it had designated Madinah as its fourth operational base in the Kingdom, in a move aimed at enhancing air connectivity to and from the city and expanding the options available to travelers.
We have increased capacity by 40 %, and are currently working on adding three new destinations, bringing the total number of local and international destinations we serve from Madinah to 10 , as part of our commitment to providing more diversity and flexibility to our customers.
Given the religious significance of Medina as the second holiest city in the Islamic world and a major gateway for pilgrims, our expanded flight schedule enhances flyadeal’s dedicated Umrah services throughout the year, in addition to preparing for the upcoming Hajj season, as flyadeal operates direct flights from several countries to Medina.”
The three new destinations will increase flyadeal's total number of weekly flights to and from Madinah to 94. The airline operates Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 186 seats, all in a 3-3 economy class configuration, with cabins designed to provide comfortable travel experiences across its various scheduled services.
Flyadeal continues to solidify its position as one of the fastest-growing airlines in the region, operating its modern fleet from its hubs in Jeddah, Riyadh, Madinah, and Dammam to more than 30 destinations within the Kingdom and internationally, both year-round and seasonally, across a network spanning the Middle East, Europe, North Africa, and South Asia. The carrier aims to expand its network to over 100 destinations and increase its fleet to 100 aircraft by 2030 , in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 .
Tickets for the new destinations from Medina are now available for booking via the Flyadeal smartphone app, the website www.flyadeal.com , and travel agents.
About Flyadeal
On September 23 , 2017 , Saudi National Day, flyadeal commenced operations with its historic inaugural flight from Jeddah to Riyadh. A pioneering and innovative company, flyadeal was the first regional low-cost carrier to launch exclusively through digital distribution channels. Established as the sister airline of Saudia, the national carrier – both being wholly owned by Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia Group) – flyadeal caters to price-conscious and tech-savvy customers in a market where 80 % of the Saudi population is under 40 and owns at least two mobile phones.
Flyadeal aims to support the growth of the travel and tourism sectors and boost trade by offering competitive daily fares that provide value for money and cater to the needs of leisure, religious, family, and business travelers. Simplicity is the hallmark of the Economy Class cabins on Flyadeal's narrow-body aircraft fleet. As the Kingdom undergoes a radical transformation through its Vision 2030 economic diversification journey, the aviation and tourism sectors are among the many designated to foster dynamic growth. Flyadeal is one of the newest and fastest-growing low-cost carriers in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, consistently delivering on-time service that exceeds the global industry average.
Since launching its first flights in 2017 , flyadeal has carried more than 45 million passengers. In a remarkable achievement in 2025 , flyadeal surpassed 10 million passengers in a single calendar year for the first time.
In May 2024 , flyadeal concluded its largest aircraft purchase deal in its history, comprising 51 aircraft – 12 A320neos and 39 larger A321neos – with a delivery schedule starting in 2027. In addition, flyadeal will operate long-haul scheduled services from 2027 with the phased introduction of ten ( 10 ) wide-body Airbus A330neo aircraft ordered by the Saudi Group in April 2025 .
Therefore, by 2030 , flyadeal plans to operate hundreds of routes, more than double its fleet size, and more than triple its network, reaching over 100 aircraft and destinations respectively.
