Kuwait - Jazeera Airways announced that its first flight from Qaisumah Airport ( AQI ) in Hafr Al-Batin, Saudi Arabia to Cairo International Airport ( CAI ) in Egypt took off this morning, Wednesday, in a move aimed at facilitating safe travel for passengers under the current operational conditions in the region.

The flight carried 145 passengers who traveled from Kuwait to Qaisumah Airport in a convoy of four buses, and then boarded the plane bound for Cairo.

This comes as part of Jazeera Airways’ efforts to facilitate passenger movement and ensure the continuity of travel in light of the temporary suspension of flight operations from Kuwait International Airport for safety reasons.

Jazeera Airways is also working to facilitate the return of passengers from Cairo to Kuwait via the same route.

The company plans to gradually increase the number of flights and expand the network of destinations served from Qaisumah Airport, with additional flights to Egypt and Jordan, while flights to Turkey, India and other cities in Saudi Arabia are expected to be added in the coming period.

Commenting on this development, Jazeera Airways CEO Prathan Basupathy, who is currently at Qaisumah Airport, said: “We are pleased to enable passengers to travel safely under the current circumstances. There is naturally a high demand from passengers wishing to travel to or from Kuwait or their home countries, and we are doing our utmost to accommodate as many of them as possible within the currently available seat capacity. Our teams continue to work closely with government agencies and relevant authorities in both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to ensure the smooth coordination of these flights as we work to add more flights and gradually open new destinations. As operations continue, the safety of our employees and cabin crew remains our top priority. We also extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia, Dammam Airports Company, Saudi Ground Services Company, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in Kuwait, the Ministry of Interior, and all other relevant authorities for their pivotal role in the success of these efforts.”

Jazeera Airways encourages passengers to book their flights through the airline's website or mobile app. Alternatively, passengers can contact the Jazeera Airways call center at 177 within Kuwait or +965 2205 4944 internationally. Please note that waiting times may be longer than usual due to the high volume of calls.
