The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry discussed with the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce prospects for developing joint economic and trade cooperation, and activating the role of the private sector in both the Emirate of Sharjah and the Federative Republic of Brazil to stimulate intra-regional trade and mutual investments, within the framework of the Chamber’s ongoing efforts to build strong economic bridges that support the local business environment and open new investment opportunities for Sharjah businessmen in promising Latin American markets, in line with the Emirate’s ambitious economic vision based on diversification and innovation.

This came during a meeting at the Chamber’s headquarters between His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a delegation from the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce headed by Mohammed Murad, Secretary-General and Head of the International Relations Office of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber, in the presence of Abdulaziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for the Communication and Business Sector, and Dr. Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of the International Relations Department at the Chamber, in addition to a number of officials from both sides.

Extended partnership and renewed cooperation

The meeting discussed avenues for economic cooperation between the business communities of Sharjah and Brazil, and the role of the two chambers in activating intra-regional trade and expanding mutual investments. It also included a comprehensive presentation of the integrated services provided by the Sharjah Chamber and its specialized bodies to support the business community and advance the private sector, and the initiatives and programs it implements to develop its trade relations with various markets around the world.

During the meeting, His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais received an official invitation to participate in the fifth edition of the Arab-Brazilian Economic Forum, scheduled to be held in Sao Paulo on August 25, jointly organized with the Union of Arab Chambers and under the auspices of the League of Arab States. This year’s forum is held under the theme “The Global Economy in Transition – A New Agenda between Brazil and the Arab States,” with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations and consolidating partnerships between the private sector in both regions.

Continued growth of economic relations

His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais emphasized the depth of the economic and historical relations that unite the UAE in general and Sharjah in particular with the Republic of Brazil and its business community, noting that these relations are witnessing continuous growth that reflects the shared desire to build sustainable investment partnerships that achieve mutual interests. He explained that the Chamber is keen to provide all means and opportunities that enable the private sector in the Emirate to expand its business internationally and to promote the competitive advantages and facilities that Sharjah offers as a leading global destination for investment in the industrial, innovation and logistics sectors.

His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais added that the Sharjah Chamber, through its participation in economic forums and the organization of trade missions, seeks to consolidate Sharjah’s position as a major gateway for trade and investment in the region, thereby contributing to driving sustainable economic growth, supporting the development process based on innovation and knowledge, and increasing the contribution of the private sector in shaping the economic future of the emirate.

Sharjah Chamber's leading role

For its part, the Brazilian side praised the Sharjah Chamber’s pioneering role in supporting the business community and developing external partnerships, noting that the Arab-Brazilian Chamber is working according to a clear strategic vision to be an influential player in diversifying and developing trade and joint investment to make the Arab countries among the largest trading partners of Brazil, and stressing that the active presence of the Chamber’s representatives and its regional offices represents a fundamental pillar for activating this strategic partnership with the Sharjah Chamber and building direct and sustainable trade links between the business communities on both sides.

It is noted that the Sharjah Chamber is enhancing its initiatives based on a strategic vision aimed at empowering the local business community and enhancing its competitiveness on the international stage, as the Chamber works to provide interactive platforms and integrated smart services that open up broad horizons for the emirate’s companies to access new and promising markets around the world.

The Sharjah Chamber and the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce have a close relationship that has been embodied in mutual visits and joint events that have contributed to raising the level of economic cooperation and introducing investment opportunities in various strategic sectors.
