Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, concluded its trade mission to Ghana and Ethiopia by organizing 510 bilateral business meetings in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, between companies from Dubai and their counterparts in Ethiopia, with the aim of exploring cooperation opportunities and establishing new partnerships in a range of priority sectors .

The Chamber in Addis Ababa recorded a record number of bilateral meetings it organized between Dubai companies and companies in the markets it visits, reaching 510 bilateral meetings, the highest since the launch of the “Wide Horizons for External Expansion” initiative in 2023, which supports Dubai companies in their efforts to expand externally in global markets. This record number reflects the confidence of the global business community in the importance of the business system and the position of Dubai and the increasing desire of foreign companies to strengthen economic ties and partnerships with the business community in Dubai.

As part of its trade mission program, the Chamber organized the "Dubai-Ethiopia Business Forum" in collaboration with the UAE Embassy in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Ethiopian Investment Commission. The forum brought together 669 senior officials, business leaders, and representatives of local companies to explore cooperation and partnership opportunities between members of the Dubai delegation and the Ethiopian business community .

The forum featured welcoming remarks by His Excellency Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, Director General of Dubai Chambers; Amha Hailegiorgis, Deputy Director General for Middle East, Asia and Pacific Affairs at the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Jamal Bekir, Ambassador of Ethiopia to the United Arab Emirates; Aynalem Abayneh, Vice President of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations; Engineer Abebe Gurmisa, Vice President of the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations; and Rashid Abdullah Al-Zawi, Head of the Economic, Political, Media and African Union Section at the UAE Embassy in Ethiopia.

Non-oil trade between Dubai and Ethiopia reached AED 22.3 billion in 2025, with an annual growth rate of 236.6%, while 91 new companies joined the Dubai Chamber of Commerce during the first quarter of this year, bringing the total number of Ethiopian companies registered in the Chamber to 1,676 by the end of the first quarter of 2026 .

During the forum, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting Dubai's dynamic business environment, the competitive advantages available to Ethiopian companies across various sectors, and the opportunities for launching operations from the emirate into promising regional and global markets . Meanwhile, Laleze Getachew, Investment Promotion Advisor to the Commissioner of Investment at the Ethiopian Investment Commission, presented an overview of Ethiopia's growing trade and investment landscape, outlining market entry pathways and the opportunities available to foreign companies and investors .

The trade mission to Ethiopia included representatives from 21 companies operating in Dubai across various sectors, including automobiles, building materials and construction, electronics, engineering, fast-moving consumer goods, food and beverages, interior design, mining, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, printing and packaging, textiles and ready-made garments .
