Zawya - Press Releases: "Lebanon Cables," a subsidiary of the Nexans Group, launches the "Electrician Academy" in partnership with IECD/SDA and NCVT.

Beirut, Lebanon: Cables Lebanon, a subsidiary of the Nexans Group, represented by its General Manager, Dr. Joseph Al-Ammar, signed a memorandum of understanding with the European Institute for Cooperation and Development ( IECD ), the Semeurs d'Avenir Association ( SDA ), and the National Center for Vocational Training ( NCVT ) to launch the "Electrician Academy," in the presence of representatives from the Ministries of Labor and Industry, the General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education, the Association of Lebanese Industrialists, the National Employment Office, the General Labor Union, land transport unions and federations, in addition to representatives from the private sector.

This initiative aims to enhance technical skills and develop vocational training opportunities across Lebanon, underscoring the company's commitment to empowering youth and promoting technical education and sustainable development in the country. This step complements the company's commitment to developing technical education and supporting the energy sector in Lebanon, following the success of the "Solar Energy Academy" of "Lebanon Cables," which has become a key criterion for companies seeking to join the list of recommended solar companies by the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC) . The new "Electrician Academy" represents a natural extension of Liban Cables' commitment to developing technical education and supporting the country's evolving renewable energy sector .

The "Electrician Academy" focuses on two main free training tracks:

• Residential Electricity: A training program that extends over 190 hours, implemented over a period of approximately two and a half months.

• Industrial Electricity: A training program that extends over 155 hours, implemented over a period of about one and a half months.

This initiative aims to enhance technical skills through practical training programs based on labor market requirements, to be implemented in a number of Lebanese regions, including Beirut, Nahr Ibrahim, Sidon, Chtaura and Tripoli, ensuring the possibility of participation from all parts of the country .

Under the agreement, Cables Lebanon, a subsidiary of the Nexans Group, will provide financial support, equipment, technical expertise, and professional guidance to ensure the program's quality, market relevance, and sustainability . IECD , SDA , and NCVT will be responsible for program implementation, training supervision, participant engagement, and coordination with local communities and stakeholders.

The first phase of the academy aims to train around 200 participants, which will contribute to preparing more efficient personnel and help bridge the gap between vocational education and the evolving demands of the labor market.

This collaboration underscores the importance of strengthening partnerships between the private sector, civil society, and public institutions to address economic challenges and meet the demands of the labor market in Lebanon, thereby supporting the future of technical and vocational education in Lebanon.
