Cairo: Cairo Three A Agriculture announced the opening of the third phase of the new “Qutouf” factory for the manufacture of citrus fruits and their derivatives, with total investments amounting to EGP 1.3 billion (about €22 million), in a strategic step aimed at maximizing the factory’s production capacity and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian products in European markets .
The opening of this phase represents a value-added industrial expansion that enhances the factory’s operational capabilities and raises its production efficiency, supporting the company’s plans to increase exports and meet growing demand in foreign markets, especially in the European Union, while adhering to the highest standards of quality and food safety .
The factory includes 22 extraction machines with a production capacity of up to 220,000 tons per year of fresh oranges, which reflects the scale of the technological development that has been introduced during this phase, and contributes to significantly raising the overall production capacity of the factory, enabling it to serve a larger segment of international customers and expand its export contract base .
In this context, Ali El-Gamil, CEO of the agricultural sector at Cairo Three A Group, stated : “The opening of the third phase of the Qutouf factory represents a new strategic step in the group’s journey towards maximizing the added value of Egyptian agricultural products. We have been keen to employ the latest extraction and processing technologies to increase production capacity and enhance operational efficiency, in line with European standards and giving our products greater competitiveness in global markets .”
He added: “Through this expansion, we aim to increase the volume of our exports to EU countries in the coming phase, benefiting from our integrated system that starts from contract farming to manufacturing and exporting. We also believe that investing in quality and international accreditations is the cornerstone for opening new markets and consolidating Egypt’s position as a regional hub for the production of high-quality fruit concentrates and juices.”
Qutouf Factory offers a comprehensive range of high-value products, including citrus concentrates, natural non-concentrated citrus juices (Citrus NFC) , citrus oil, strawberry and mango purees, as well as pomegranate concentrates and natural non-concentrated pomegranate juice (Pomegranate NFC). These products target major food and beverage companies in Europe, reinforcing Egypt's position as a regional hub for the production of fruit concentrates and juices .
The project has obtained a wide range of international certifications and accreditations that enhance its ability to access global markets, including Halal and Kosher certifications, SMETA accreditation, BRC certification, FSSC 22000 certification, in addition to being included in the white list of both the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) and the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) , reflecting the company’s strict commitment to the highest standards of compliance, quality and sustainability .
This expansion comes within the framework of Cairo Three A’s strategy aimed at maximizing the added value of Egyptian agricultural products and transforming them into highly competitive industrial products in international markets, which contributes to increasing export revenues, supporting the national economy, and consolidating the position of the “Qutouf” factory as one of the largest and most modern citrus extraction and processing factories in the region.
