Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – ACWA Power, the world’s largest privately owned desalination company, a leader in energy transition, and the first in green hydrogen, announced the appointment of Dr. Samir Sarhan as Chief Executive Officer, effective March 1, 2026. The Board of Directors of the company, listed on the Saudi Stock Exchange, made this decision in line with the natural progression within ACWA Power’s executive leadership cycle and its disciplined governance framework. This appointment is part of a structured and well-considered transition of management under the supervision of the Board’s Nominations and Remuneration Committee. The Board and the outgoing CEO, Marco Arcelli, agreed to implement the planned transition to ensure the continuity and stability of the company’s operations without altering ACWA Power’s long-term direction.

Dr. Samir Sarhan has worked closely with the leadership team at ACWA since his appointment last year as President of the company in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, making him well-prepared for his new role. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Air Products, where he oversaw the company's operations and project execution, holding operational and financial performance accountable across the Americas, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and India. He also led functions encompassing global technology, engineering, manufacturing, and equipment at Air Products. Prior to this, he served as Head of Hydrogen at Praxair.

In an earlier phase of his career, spanning 14 years, Dr. Samir Sarhan held senior leadership positions within the Linde Group in the United States and Germany, most recently as General Manager of Linde Engineering. He possesses over three decades of experience with a proven track record of leading operational transformation, enhancing institutional capabilities, and achieving disciplined growth in an environment involving large and complex capital investments.
