The Dubai Sports Council crowned the winners of the sixth edition of the "Media Dubai Schools Games," the largest sporting event of its kind in Dubai. This event represents a foundational step in identifying and developing sporting talent and creating sporting champions. The competitions were held in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Education, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, sports federations, and Dubai sports clubs, in partnership with ESM, the tournament's operational partner.
The closing ceremony and honoring of the winners was attended by His Excellency Ghanem Al Hajeri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports, His Excellency Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Assistant Undersecretary for the Sports Development and Competitiveness Sector at the Ministry of Sports and President of the UAE Sports Federation for School and University Education Institutions, and His Excellency Ahmed Al Khaja, Board Member of the Dubai Sports Council and Executive Director of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment.
Record numbers
The sixth edition of the tournament recorded unprecedented numbers, confirming the growing pace of school sports in the emirate, as it attracted more than 21,230 male and female athletes, representing 195 public and private schools, who competed passionately in 27 different sports.
Honoring the heroes
The ceremony honored a select group of outstanding male and female student athletes who excelled in various tournaments, following months of intense competition that resulted in the crowning of the winners in the primary and secondary school categories.
In terms of the overall ranking across all sports, "GEMS Modern Academy" secured first place in the primary school category, followed by "GEMS Dubai American Academy" in second place, then "Nord Anglia International" in third place, "Zayed Educational Complex Al Warqa" in fourth place, and "Al Safa Community School" in fifth place.
In the overall ranking for the secondary school category, Credence High School was crowned first, followed by GEMS Modern Academy in second place, GEMS Metropole School in third, Jumeirah College in fourth, and GEMS Wellington Academy - Al Khail in fifth.
GEMS Modern Academy secured first place, followed by GEMS Jumeirah Primary School in second, the French International School Georges Pompidou in third, GEMS Metropole School in fourth, and Sunmark School in fifth. In the secondary school team competitions, Winchester School Jebel Ali took first place, followed by Jebel Ali School in second, Deira International School in third, GEMS Metropole School in fourth, and GEMS International School in fifth.
Rising talents
Part of the ceremony was dedicated to celebrating promising talents who represent the future of school sports, where 10 students were honored in the "Next Generation Talents" category for the primary stage, namely: Asma and Daniel (fencing), Aida and Serge (athletics), Anne and Frederick (football), Mila and Marcus (swimming), Jaden (judo), and Alma (laser shooting).
The ceremony also honored 105 students with the "Rising Talents" award in recognition of their outstanding performance, most notably: Youssef, Ann, and Sophie (football), Matthew, Darcy, and Morgan (swimming), Thomas, Keno, and Alexander (wall climbing), Nevis, Perry, and Achilles (athletics), Ayan, Hannah, and Aaron (karate), Bruno, Ezra, and Mona (basketball), Aradia (table tennis), and Thomas (golf).
The Road to Globalization
The top schools and athletes who excelled in this edition will have the opportunity to represent the Emirate of Dubai in the "UAE School Games", providing an ideal pathway for young talents to compete at the national level and continue their journey of sporting excellence.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the partners and sponsors were honored in recognition of their exceptional support in making the event a success. They are: Midea, as the title partner, Al Nabooda Automobiles - Volkswagen, Almarai, Careem, Al Ain Water, and Sea Life.
