Abu Dhabi, the Arab Youth Center announced the opening of registration for the “Arab Youth Diplomatic Camp”, which will be held via video conferencing technology from May 18 to 22, 2026, under the slogan “Diplomacy at the Crossroads of Change”, to provide an opportunity for 40 young men and women from various Arab countries to participate.
The camp features an intensive training program of two to three hours daily, aimed at enhancing the presence of young Arabs in the diplomatic field and expanding their professional knowledge of issues related to negotiation and regional and international transformations. The camp targets university students and recent graduates, as well as journalists, researchers, civil society workers, representatives of Arab countries in various forums, and young professionals from various sectors, who are not specialists in the diplomatic sector, within the age group of 18 to 35 years.
The program focuses on the practical aspect of understanding diplomatic work, by introducing its mechanisms and roles in the international arena, building negotiation skills, dealing with conflicts and crises, and reading current issues in the region, which enhances the participants’ ability to engage effectively in the diplomatic scene.
Diplomatic training and practical application
Commenting on the camp’s activities and programs, Engineer Fatima Al-Halami, Executive Director of the Arab Youth Center , said: “Qualifying Arab youth to enter the world of diplomacy has become a necessity imposed by the nature of the current stage and the accelerating transformations around us. Universities provide an important knowledge base, but this specialization also needs practical training that brings young people closer to the mechanisms of real work, and gives them the opportunity to learn how to manage situations, formulate messages, read political mechanisms and systems, and benefit from the experiences of specialized diplomats who have accumulated qualitative experiences in this sector.”
She added: “The UAE experience has presented a pioneering model of effective diplomacy, and today it is opening paths to solutions in complex issues, reflecting a clear vision in employing diplomacy to serve stability, development, and the creation of opportunities. It is important for Arab youth to learn about this model, as it is a successful experience and a space for practical inspiration that confirms that modern diplomacy is capable of making a real impact when it is based on competence and a good understanding of changes.”
Integrated training course
The camp program is divided into five main themes, running from Monday to Friday. The first day focuses on "Foundations," examining the importance of diplomacy in the contemporary world and exploring the relationship between history and diplomacy in the Arab world. The second day addresses "Effectiveness," focusing on the role of diplomacy during times of crisis, with selected case studies.
On the third day, the program shifts to the "Negotiation" module, exploring the art of negotiation from both theoretical and psychological perspectives, culminating in the first practical simulation exercises. The fourth day focuses on "Conflict Zones," emphasizing ceasefire and peace negotiations, and the conclusion of agreements during wartime. The camp concludes on Friday with the "Future and Work" module, highlighting youth as diplomatic actors and featuring a final simulation of the Security Council.
The Arab Youth Center, in cooperation with its partners, awards an accredited certificate to participants upon completion of the program, while outstanding participants are invited to apply for the Arab Young Diplomatic Leaders Program, which opens up an advanced path for them to complete training and build a broader professional presence in this field.
Those wishing to learn more details about the camp can follow the Arab Youth Center’s accounts on various social media platforms, where the center provides continuous updates about the initiative, its dates, and how to participate in it.
