- The center will provide patients in the Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries with advanced treatment services in cardiovascular diseases according to the highest international standards and practices, providing them with world-class care close to them.
- In line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, the center aims to reduce the need for travel abroad for treatment, develop specialized care within the Kingdom, and enhance the private sector's contribution to healthcare.
Dammam, Saudi Arabia – In a move representing a significant advancement in cardiovascular services across the region, Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) announced the opening of its Center of Excellence in Cardiovascular Medicine in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. This is the second Center of Excellence in the Kingdom, following the success of its Center of Excellence in Oncology, and represents a further step towards establishing a comprehensive, specialized healthcare system throughout the Kingdom.
The new center is based on the model of the renowned American Heart and Vascular Institute, offering comprehensive services based on evidence-based treatment protocols, with excellence centered around the patient and their needs.
With its doors open to patients locally and regionally, the center is responding to critical health needs, as cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the Kingdom, with the risk of the number of cases expected to rise to more than 479,500 citizens by 2035, more than double the current number, as a result of aging factors, lifestyle-related diseases and nutritional risks.
To meet this growing demand, the center will offer comprehensive care in the fields of cardiology, cardiac surgery, and vascular medicine under a single program. Specialized physicians will manage complex cardiovascular cases and design personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs, ensuring continuity and quality of care. This will be supported by multidisciplinary teams and state-of-the-art technology. The center will strive to achieve optimal outcomes through evidence-based protocols and innovative treatments, in addition to serving as a platform for training medical professionals, conducting research studies, and developing new therapies.
In his statement on this subject, Dr. Russell Hales, President of Centers of Excellence at Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare, said: “The new center is more than just a qualitative leap for Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare; it will provide patients in the Kingdom and the GCC as a whole with leading treatment solutions. For many, access to specialized cardiac care used to mean traveling abroad or not receiving it at all. Today, our new center aims to change this reality by providing reliable care closer to them, based on the credibility of Johns Hopkins Medicine.”
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Russell Hales is a prominent professor of radiation oncology at Johns Hopkins University in the United States, which confirms the center's commitment to applying the highest standards and best practices, raising the quality of care and ensuring that patients receive exceptional treatment within the Kingdom and the region, as part of the transformation path in the Saudi healthcare sector.
The Center of Excellence in Cardiovascular Medicine at Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare offers a coordinated and comprehensive model of cardiac care based on international best practices, combining the scale and integration of services characteristic of official centers of excellence with the global expertise of Johns Hopkins Medicine. This unique collaboration sets a new standard for cardiovascular services in Saudi Arabia and the GCC region, ensuring patients receive advanced, world-class care without needing to travel abroad.
