Zawya - Press Releases: Vodafone Egypt and the General Authority for Healthcare sign a cooperation protocol to enhance the readiness of health services.

Cairo - Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare and General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the General Authority for Healthcare and Vodafone Egypt, in the presence of Eng. Ayman El-Saadany, Head of External Affairs at Vodafone Egypt, and Mr. Osama Abdel-Razek, Director of Government Relations at Vodafone Egypt, within the framework of supporting the digital and communication infrastructure within the health facilities affiliated with the Authority, and enhancing their readiness for the requirements of smart operation and digital transformation within the comprehensive health insurance system.

The signing of the protocol was attended by Dr. Wael Omran, Head of the Central Administration for Supply Affairs, and Dr. Moamen Ashmawy, Advisor to the Head of the Authority for Monitoring the Authority’s Strategic Projects.

The cooperation aims to support the digital and communication infrastructure within the health facilities affiliated with the Authority, which contributes to raising the efficiency of communication services, enhancing the readiness of facilities for smart operation and digital transformation requirements, and supporting the health work system in light of the continuous expansion in the application of comprehensive health insurance.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky praised the strategic partnership with Vodafone Egypt, stressing its role in supporting the digital transformation process during the first phase of implementing the comprehensive health insurance system, and its contribution to enhancing the readiness of health facilities to keep pace with modern operating requirements, noting the extension of this cooperation during the next phase to the governorates of the second phase of the system, starting with Minya Governorate as the first governorate of the second phase.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky pointed out that Egypt has become a leading model in the field of digital health transformation, having succeeded in building an integrated health information system (HIS) that covers various levels of healthcare, including secondary and tertiary care, rather than just separate digital systems within health facilities. This reflects an integrated experience that has received international praise, as Egypt was ranked as the first country in Africa and the Middle East to succeed in establishing an integrated digital health system at this level according to HIMSS standards and accreditations.

Al-Subki explained that expanding the application of the comprehensive health insurance system in the governorates of the second phase requires the continued development of the infrastructure supporting the operation and strengthening cooperation with technology partners, in order to ensure the readiness of health facilities and the provision of more efficient and sustainable services to citizens.

For his part, Eng. Ayman El-Saadany, Head of External Affairs at Vodafone Egypt, added: “This cooperation represents an extension of the strategic partnership that has united us with the General Authority for Healthcare over the past years, and reflects Vodafone Egypt’s commitment to supporting the state’s efforts to accelerate digital transformation in vital sectors, by employing technology to develop services that affect citizens’ lives, foremost among them the healthcare sector. At Vodafone Egypt, we believe that our role as a partner to the state in the digital transformation journey is not limited to providing telecommunications services, but extends to building a digital infrastructure that supports vital sectors and enables them to provide more efficient and sustainable services. We are pleased to sign this protocol, which will contribute to enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of telecommunications services in priority areas, and supporting the readiness of the Authority’s health facilities to keep pace with the requirements of digital transformation.”

This cooperation comes within the framework of the General Authority for Healthcare’s strategy to enhance partnerships with the private sector, support digital transformation, and provide an advanced operating environment that keeps pace with the continuous expansion of the comprehensive health insurance system, in line with the Egyptian state’s vision to build a modern and sustainable health system.
