Zawya - Press Releases: "Zoom" enhances digital capabilities in Saudi Arabia with the launch of a new data center
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Zoom announced a new milestone in its investment and growth in Saudi Arabia with the launch of its latest data center in the Kingdom, enhancing its local capabilities and supporting the rapid growth of Saudi Arabia’s digital infrastructure. The center was launched under the patronage of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and in the presence of His Excellency the Governor of the Digital Government Authority, Engineer Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sowayan, along with representatives from Saudi Aramco.
The new data center is located within center3, Saudi Arabia’s leading cluster of neutral data centers and submarine cable systems connecting Europe, Asia, and Africa. This investment builds on Zoom’s growing presence in the Kingdom, following the company’s $75 million commitment last year, with a strategic focus on AI-powered innovation and the advanced infrastructure needed to scale, particularly given the Kingdom’s designation of 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence.
As the Kingdom celebrates the 10th anniversary of the launch of Saudi Vision 2030, this move reflects Zoom's commitment to leveraging advanced technologies in practical applications with tangible impact. This announcement also supports ongoing national efforts in data and artificial intelligence, spearheaded by leading national institutions and large-scale infrastructure programs, and underscores Zoom's dedication to contributing to progress in both the public and private sectors.
Zoom's regional data center, which opened in 2023, had already begun providing local data hosting services to clients whose businesses required compliance with local data residency requirements. The new center enhances these capabilities to support government entities, large enterprises, and operators of critical national infrastructure.
Commenting on this achievement, Mohannad Al-Kalash, Vice President for the Middle East, Turkey, Africa and Pakistan at Zoom, said: “Saudi Arabia is one of the most ambitious and forward-looking digital markets in the region, and we are witnessing qualitative momentum at various levels. The new data center enhances our ability to support our customers within the Kingdom, and embodies Zoom’s confidence in Saudi Arabia’s vision for a more connected future powered by artificial intelligence.”
This event follows a series of important announcements related to Zoom products, including the launch of ZoomMate, the company’s first AI-powered coworker, designed to turn conversations into completed tasks and completed work, as well as the AI Productivity Suite, which enables teams to create presentations, reports and other outputs directly from the context of meetings.
As the Kingdom continues to accelerate its digital transformation, Zoom continues to collaborate with its partners to enhance the local technology ecosystem and ensure that organizations receive the necessary support to keep pace with the evolution of their priorities and future needs.
