MSC: Two shells hit a ship in the port of Umm Qasr in Iraq yesterday
ROME, June 2 (Reuters) - MSC, the world's largest container shipping group, said on Tuesday that two shells hit its vessel, the Sariska 5, while it was docked at the port of Umm Qasr in Iraq on Monday, adding that all crew members were safe and unharmed.
The company stated that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard claimed responsibility for the incident, which it described as an unjustified attack on a neutral commercial tanker with no connection to the United States or Israel.
The group added in a statement, "MSC is deeply concerned about these unprovoked attacks and the risks they pose to its innocent seafarers and vital maritime trade in the region."
