PRESSR: WaHa Raises $8 Million in Series A Funding
Water Harvesting Inc. ( WaHa ), a climate technology company, announced the closing of an $8 million Series A -1 financing round, in conjunction with a corporate reorganization. This financing round was led by Chairman Mike Phillips and Board Member Christian Thirion, with participation from WaHa’s largest bondholders and investors, including the Berkeley Catalyst Fund, the Anthropocene Institute, Vestafund, and Mitsui Mining & Smelting Co., Ltd.
This financing will eliminate all debt, simplify WaHa 's capitalization schedule, and provide the necessary capital to enable the company to achieve its next phase of key commercial milestones and close its next funding round. This financing will also support a growing pipeline of sales opportunities across the UAE and GCC. Field trials led by Khalifa University have demonstrated the unique ability of the company's technology to reliably harvest pure water in the UAE, which is characterized by a hot and dry desert climate with high temperatures, low humidity, and frequent, sudden sandstorms.
Since 2023, WaHa's atmospheric water generation (AWG) systems have been deployed in a number of challenging climate environments, including West Texas, Abu Dhabi, a remote desert area in the UAE, Riyadh, and Stockholm. These systems have proven to perform their intended function reliably at 99.998 percent and produce approximately 98.3 percent of the target water output—the highest sustainable water output in the AWG industry. The company's proprietary WaHa Vaporator® water harvesting technology is protected by 14 active patent families, as well as 18 granted patents worldwide. This revolutionary technology is a modular system that supports off-grid distribution and integrates with HVAC and agricultural systems.
WaHa is expected to unveil its first commercially available atmospheric water generation (AWG) units at the 2025 edition of the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition ( WETEX ). The company will showcase a range of its solutions for utilities, developers, and industrial operators seeking reliable and sustainable access to clean water at the exhibition, which will be held in Dubai from September 30 to October 2.
Commenting on this development, Mike Phillips, Chairman of WaHa, said: “We have successfully created a proven platform that will significantly transform access to water across multiple sectors. This funding will allow us to further build the popularity of the WaHa Vaporator® water harvesting device and enhance water security across the country and the wider GCC.”
Frank Ramirez, CEO of WaHa, said, “We are grateful for the generous support of our investors and partners. This funding represents a significant step toward providing reliable, efficient, and sustainable water to the places where it is most needed. We are proud of what our team has achieved and excited to see what the future holds.”
WaHa is currently negotiating a number of commercial agreements in the areas of manufacturing, distribution, service, and long-term support.
