- The social media company owned by U.S. President Donald Trump discussed charging traders and investors up to $100,000 a month for faster access to Trump's posts on its Truth Social platform, the Financial Times reported on Friday.

Trump Media and Technology Group, which owns TruthSocial, did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. Reuters was unable to independently verify the report, which cited people familiar with the matter.

On Thursday, the company unveiled a paid, licensed data service called Truth API to provide banks and trading firms with "faster" access to posts from influential accounts on the Truth Social platform.

A company spokesperson said the product will deliver posts from the 10 most influential accounts to customers at a much faster pace than regular push notifications on the Truth Social platform.

This will be Trump Media and Technology Group's first foray into data, opening up a new revenue stream for the company, which has faced challenges in expanding its media business amid fierce competition from larger social media firms.

TMTG shares pared most of their losses after the Financial Times report. The stock was down 0.4 percent in afternoon trading and is down about 27 percent this year.

Trump's pronouncements on TruthSocial, such as the tariffs he announced on what he called "Liberation Day" and his posts about trade restrictions on China, have significantly impacted global markets. This makes his posts an important source of information for traders, companies, and financial institutions.

On April 9, 2025, major Wall Street indices rose sharply after Trump said in a TruthSocial post that he would suspend many of his new tariffs for 90 days.
