IMF: Prolonged increases in energy prices could fuel inflation
WASHINGTON, March 19 (Reuters) - The International Monetary Fund said on Thursday it was closely monitoring developments in the Iran war and the resulting disruptions to energy production, warning that prolonged spikes in energy prices could fuel inflation and slow global growth.
Julie Kozak, a spokeswoman for the International Monetary Fund, told reporters that the fund had not received any formal requests for emergency financing, but was ready to help member countries as needed.
