PRESSR: Jazeera Airways achieves strong results for the first half of 2025
- Passenger traffic grows to 2.3 million passengers
- Maintaining its leading market share of 29.5 % at Kuwait International Airport
Jazeera Airways, Kuwait's leading low-cost carrier, announced its financial and operational results for the first half of 2025, continuing to deliver strong performance despite regional geopolitical challenges and the temporary airspace closures during the second quarter .
Jazeera Airways achieved net profits of KWD 9.6 million for the first half of 2025, a significant increase of 249.5% compared to the same period in 2024. The group's operating revenues increased by 3.3% to KWD 102.2 million, supported by the expansion of its capacity, the diversification of its operational portfolio, and the increase in revenue from support services.
Passenger traffic remained strong, reaching 2.3 million passengers during the first half of the year, a slight increase of 0.1% compared to the same period last year, while the seat load factor reached 75.5%. Jazeera Airways also maintained its leadership at Kuwait International Airport with a 29.5% market share, operating a fleet of 24 aircraft to 63 destinations in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Operational flexibility was a key strength, contributing to an increase in the punctuality rate for take-off and landing flights from 79.7% in the first half of 2024 to 82% in the same period this year. This was despite the sector being impacted by the closure of some airspace, which in turn affected the company's ability to consistently adhere to the accuracy of its operations and customer satisfaction. Revenue from support services increased by 26.6% to KWD 10.9 million, thanks to continued investments in product and service innovation.
In the second quarter of the year, despite the sudden closure of vital airspace and unstable regional conditions, Jazeera Airways concluded the period with strong results, achieving net profits of KWD 4.8 million, transporting one million passengers, and achieving a seat occupancy rate of 72%.
Commenting on the results, Jazeera Airways Chairman, Marwan Boodai, said: “These results reflect the strength of our business model and the strength of our strategic direction. Despite the challenges and external factors impacting the aviation and travel sector, Jazeera Airways has succeeded in achieving strong profits and strengthening its market leadership. With our continued investments in expanding our network of destinations and enhancing our customer experience, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to supporting and strengthening Kuwait’s position as a regional aviation hub.”
Second-quarter operational performance
During the second quarter, Jazeera Airways continued to expand its network with the launch of new destinations to Budapest, Hungary; Hurghada, Egypt; Sochi, Russia; and Yerevan, Armenia, offering travelers more options for travel and tourism during the summer season. The airline also resumed flights to Damascus, Syria, in a significant step that restored direct air connectivity between Kuwait and Syria after a 13-year hiatus. Alongside this expansion, the airline focused on enhancing the digital travel experience by continuing to invest in innovative, traveler-centric products and services.
Future vision for the second half
The outlook for the second half of the year remains positive as the company closely monitors regional geopolitical developments to ensure the stability of its operations. Jazeera Airways will continue to focus on network expansion, digital transformation, and service enhancements to support sustainable growth in financial and operational indicators.
The company also continues to implement its plan to expand its aircraft fleet, starting with upgrading the capacity of its aircraft to 180 seats by the fourth quarter of 2025. The company is also preparing to receive 26 new aircraft starting in 2026, which will enable it to expand its network of destinations, increase its operational capacity, and enhance its commercial and electronic channels. In terms of investments in customer experience, innovation, and the development of Terminal 5 , Jazeera Airways is now strongly positioned to continue its growth and strengthen its role in the Kuwaiti aviation sector .
