FRANKFURT, June 4 (Reuters) - Lufthansa said several employees were injured when the front landing gear of a Boeing 787 passenger jet collapsed at a boarding gate at Frankfurt Airport on Thursday.
"The passengers had not yet boarded the plane," a company spokesman said in an emailed statement, adding that crew members and ground staff were on board at the time of the incident, which was first reported by Bloomberg.
The company added, "A number of employees were injured and are currently receiving treatment."
A Reuters photographer saw several ambulances parked around the plane, which had partially rested on its belly.
The incident occurred at 12:45 PM (10:45 GMT). Lufthansa, the airline operating the aircraft, said it was preparing for takeoff towards Los Angeles.
The company added, "We are currently investigating the exact circumstances with the relevant authorities."
