BEIRUT, July 28 (Reuters) - Lebanese singer Fairuz made her first public appearance in years on Monday at a funeral for her son, artist Ziad Rahbani, at the Dormition Church in Mhayditsa, Bikfaya, in Mount Lebanon.

Fairuz arrived at the church dressed in black, wearing sunglasses, and looking somewhat composed. She was accompanied by her daughter, Rima Rahbani, her sister, the artist Hoda Haddad, and a large number of the Rahbani family.

Ziad Rahbani passed away on Saturday at the age of 69 in a hospital after a battle with liver disease. He enriched the music and theater scene with works that constituted milestones in the artistic field.
