Riyadh - Mubasher: The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has begun implementing procedures related to the failure to document electricity meters, after the deadline for subscribers to complete the documentation process expired.
These measures include gradually suspending some additional services, eventually leading to the service being disconnected. Unverified subscribers will continue to be notified of the importance of updating their data to ensure they can benefit from all the company's services without any future disruptions, according to what was reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Monday.
The company emphasized that meter authentication aims to link the service to the actual beneficiary, whether owner or tenant, enhancing data accuracy and ensuring more flexible and transparent access to electricity services.
She noted that this measure contributes to improving the subscriber experience by enabling them to easily manage their account, track their consumption, and receive updates on bills and other services directly.
The company explained that the actual beneficiary is the person who directly uses the electricity service. The main categories include the beneficiary owner who resides in the property, the non-beneficiary owner who rents the property to other tenants, and the tenant who resides in the property and uses the electricity directly.
She also noted that this documentation contributes to ensuring the rights of all parties and reduces any confusion regarding bills or financial responsibilities between landlords and tenants.
The company urged subscribers who have not yet completed the verification process to update their information quickly through the available channels, explaining that the verification process is available via the Electricity Authority's app and website, in addition to the possibility of visiting subscriber service offices or contacting the customer service center.
The company explained that subscribers can verify their account number. A number beginning with 100 indicates that the meter is unverified and requires further procedures, while a number beginning with 300 indicates that the meter is verified and does not require any updating.
The company emphasized that the authentication process not only aims to update subscriber data, but also contributes to protecting consumer rights, reducing potential bill disputes, and providing customized services tailored to the needs of actual beneficiaries.
