PRESSR: Lockheed Martin and Arabian International Steel Construction celebrate a significant milestone in THAAD launcher production.
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Tim Cahill, president of Lockheed Martin’s (NYSE: LMT) Missiles and Fire Control business, recently met with Nawaf Albawardi, Assistant Deputy Governor for Military Fields at the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), and Wassim Attia, President of the Arabian International Company for Steel Construction (AISC), at AISC’s Jeddah facility to review joint progress on AISC’s efforts to locally produce components for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system. During the visit, the team celebrated the completion of the first batch of locally produced components for the THAAD launcher, highlighting ongoing collaboration and successes in local manufacturing.
This achievement highlights the Arab International Steel Construction Company's expertise in precision welding and the effective application of modern manufacturing techniques. It is particularly significant because it demonstrates how the two companies have successfully consolidated manufacturing expertise, strengthened the Kingdom's defense industrial base, and provided a flexible, second source of manufacturing for the US supply chain.
“This achievement represents a mutual benefit for both the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as we work to finalize the Kingdom’s purchase of the THAAD system, which began with President Trump’s visit to the region in 2017,” said Tim Cahill, president of Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control business. “Through this program, we are not only supporting Saudi Vision 2030 and enhancing regional defense capabilities, but also creating high-quality manufacturing jobs in the United States and strengthening the American defense industrial base. This is a testament to the value of our partnership with Arabian International Company for Steel Construction and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
