Dubai - Mubasher Special: It is likely that the compass of the Arab financial markets will be determined during the trading of the next two weeks by 5 main factors, especially amid the dominance of calm behavior over their performance, coinciding with the approaching end of the first ten days of the holy month of Ramadan for the year 2025 .

At the end of trading yesterday, Sunday, the performance of Gulf stocks varied, as the Saudi market index "TASI" rose by 0.22%, the Qatar Stock Exchange index rose by 0.11%, and the Muscat Stock Exchange index rose by 0.57%. Outside the Gulf region, the main Egyptian Stock Exchange index "EGX 30" rose by 0.59 %.

Meanwhile, the general market index of the Kuwaiti Stock Exchange fell by 0.95%, and the Bahraini general index fell by 0.09%. Meanwhile, the UAE markets were closed on the same session .

In turn, Ibrahim Al-Fulaijawi, economic advisor and financial markets expert, said that there are 5 main factors that will cause the movement of Arab financial market indicators, especially the Gulf ones, most notably the statements and decisions of Donald Trump, President of the United States, regarding customs tariffs against China .

Al-Fulaijawi confirmed to “Information Direct” that the vague statements and conflicting decisions, most notably his imposition of customs tariffs on Canada and Mexico and his temporary withdrawal from them in exchange for proceeding to increase them on Beijing, in addition to his threats to Iran and then his offer to negotiate with it, were among the first factors that set indicators on the path of fluctuation and instability in the first ten days of the holy month of Ramadan, indicating that this factor will remain one of the factors influencing it in the remaining sessions of the holy month .

Al-Fulaijawi pointed out that one of the factors affecting the performance of the region's stock exchanges is the state of instability that global stock exchanges are going through due to the swelling of profit indicators, as they need to release those profits and then enter the correction phase, the intensity of which will not increase until the end of trading in the first half of this year, most likely .

Al-Fulaikawi explained that the Saudi and Qatari stock markets may witness a positive rebound during the current week’s trading, due to the end of the temporary correction wave that has been controlling them since the beginning of this month, noting that the UAE and Kuwaiti markets may witness the completion of the correction phase and then the rebound by the end of this week, to be the last phase before the annual distribution season for traders .

He stressed that the distribution season, which will begin at the beginning of next April, will have a natural impact on pushing down the indices of the Gulf and Arab stock markets in general, as it coincides with the due date of annual dividends for shareholders .

Among the factors affecting the performance of the region’s markets is the lack of positive incentives that would prompt investors to pump new capital into stocks, coinciding with the start of the Ramadan trading sessions, which are characterised by relative calm .

The instability of oil prices, which are affected by the imposition of new sanctions by US President-elect Donald Trump on entities involved in transporting Iranian supplies, and the escalation of global trade and geopolitical tensions, are also among these factors .

He expected that the interests of investors in the Arab stock market during the coming period and until the end of Ramadan would be directed towards major sectors that carry promising opportunities, annual business results and plans for distribution to shareholders that are likely to be good, and which fall within the oil and non-oil sectors, most notably mining, petrochemicals and renewable energy, in addition to the health sector and sectors such as car rental and financing .
